On Thursday night I rearranged my work schedule so that we could leave Marugame at 5:40pm and be a half hour late to a minor league baseball game in Olive Stadium in Takamatsu that started at 6pm. Tickets are usually 800 yen (about $7) and are good for any game, so we bought them ahead of time at a convenience store, but when we showed up it just happened to be free night, so we didn't even need the tickets. We had our choice of seats in the mostly empty stadium, and Callan thought he was in heaven. Melissa and felt a bit like we were fish in a fish bowl. We often feel like we stand out in this country, but at the game we really felt like outsiders. It was a bit like being at some strangers house for Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone was having a good time, the atmosphere was light, and people were friendly, but at the same time we couldn't help feeling like everyone was watching us, wondering who we where, and how we got invited. Not that anyone cared we were there, in fact, people smiled and were very nice, but just feeling the eyes on you is nerve racking.
